Abstract: 

Modern civilization experiences a sharp systemic crisis. Adoption of the sustainable development concept by the developed countries as the basic ideology can help overcoming this crisis. In this connection the author addresses the concepts of harmony and homoeostasis as the basic terms and criteria of implementation of this concept.
